This is right, but not in general. Most vegans would agree with me if they had to choose between an animal and a human they would choose the human. But as this case is only hypothetical and never (or close to never) happens in modern societies it is not worth a discussion. Animals are different and it is not possible to be equally treated in all aspects (e.g. an animal cannot vote for the president). Vegans just want to reduce the harm to animals as much as possible and this only works if we stop exploiting other species for our pleasure/taste. So an equal treatment between all animals (to kill a cow is as much a crime as killing an elephant or a human) and to let the animals live their life without hurting them is the overall goal. It is not right to hurt another human and the same applies to any other sentient being.

It’s about respecting each other and every animal’s life. Not about making a dog, pig or cow a human.

By simply making other choices in the supermarket you can have a direct impact on the harm caused to other living beings. If you have any concerns regarding veganism have a look at my other articles and if you still have open questions or if you are struggling at a specific point, just leave me a comment or contact me directly.

Don’t close your eyes and ask yourself what stops you to make a difference? I am convinced you won’t regret it.

Cheers,

Dario 🙂
