I only buy organic meat is one of the first arguments as soon as the topic meat consumption comes and up everyone is buying meat only from their trusted farmer with only grass-fed cows. I somehow doubt this. If there is some meat on sale or if you are in a restaurant or someone’s guest it is nearly impossible to make sure you only eat the “good meat”. If you just grab a burger at some takeaway store you already broke your intention. Or if we think about a ham summit or some other product with just a little ham or bacon in it, does this count? Yes of course. I really think it is a great thing if people start to care about where their meat is coming from and if this just means to start buying your meat from a local farmer instead of a factory farm and eat it more conscious. The animals have hopefully a better life there. But this is just the first step in the right direction. Even an animal with a better life is going through a slaughterhouse. And even organic animals can enjoy only a minimal part of their original lifespan. To take the life of a sentient being with the will to live is still wrong and it doesn’t matter how well it was treated before. They probably feel even more betrayed at the end. A better treatment just doesn’t make an act morally right or better. This comparison might seem extreme for some readers now, but I think it shows pretty good what I mean: If you go out with a girl/boy you spend a lovely evening together you pay for the dinner and go to your place. As you had a good time together is it okay now to harm the other person (rape, kill or whatever)? No of course not. You see a bad act stays bad. If you can’t resign to meat I encourage you to eat at least organic meat and reduce the amount, but I highly encourage you to also make the second and third step to a diet where no victims are involved.

Humane slaughter doesn't exist

This is “organic meat” is it really such an accomplishment to “only” eat this living being? It will still suffer and be killed against its will. And in most cases, cows for organic meat don’t have such a beautiful meadow, just a little more space than others.

Do the change and go vegan

By simply making other choices in the supermarket you can have a direct impact on the harm caused to other living beings. If you have any concerns regarding veganism have a look at my other articles and if you still have open questions or if you are struggling at a specific point, just leave me a comment or contact me directly. If you want to support this webpage and me to continue spreading the vegan message you can do this here. Thank you a lot.

Don’t close your eyes and ask yourself what stops you to make a difference? I am convinced you won’t regret it.

Cheers,
