The most common question ever and I always have to grin if someone is asking me this question. Before I got vegan I ate poultry after sports sessions because I thought I needed to get more protein and this is the best source. Yeah, of course, there is some protein in it, but there are enough other options.

Some of the biggest animals on earth are herbivores. Elephants, gorillas, rhinos, hippos and so on. They even mostly eat leaves and grass (not even beans or nuts which are high in protein). One of the strongest men on earth is vegan (Patrik Baboumian) and there are a lot of vegan athletes. So it is definitely possible. And have you ever heard of a protein deficiency? No, because as long as you don’t starve (eat enough calories per day) you will automatically get enough protein also from plant-based foods. In our modern society, we eat on average too much protein (more than the recommended amount). So you will still be fine or better with less protein. The recommended amount is around 0.8g of protein per kg weight. So if you are 70kg this is around 56g per day. Don’t worry if you are a little above or below it. If you do sport you will need more but sporty people usually eat more so you automatically have a higher intake. And if you are really worried you can still buy some vegan protein powder but from my perspective, this is not necessary. If you don’t believe me, take a view minutes and Google the amount of protein in different products. You can also use this calculator for a couple of days to see if you are on track (no advertisement): chronometer. But don’t worry too much about protein, there are so many vegans on earth (also people which cannot afford animal products on a regular basis) which live perfectly healthy.

Hey little elephant where do you get your protein from to get as big as your mother?

Do the change and go vegan

By simply making other choices in the supermarket you can have a direct impact on the harm caused to other living beings. If you have any concerns regarding veganism have a look at my other articles and if you still have open questions or if you are struggling at a specific point, just leave me a comment or contact me directly. If you want to support this webpage and me to continue spreading the vegan message you can do this here. Thank you a lot.

Don’t close your eyes and ask yourself what stops you to make a difference? I am convinced you won’t regret it.

Cheers,
